AWO is a grassroots non-governmental, non profit organization dedicated to make a difference in the lives of Jordanian women.

 

AWO was founded in 1970 by a group of women activists who dreamt of a society where gender equality and social justice would reign for all citizens.

 

AWO extends its educational programmes and services to needy women living in underprivileged areas.

 

AWO undertakes advocacy programmes for women and youth of both sexes on gender equality, reproductive health and the preservation of the environment.

AWO is a member of several international, Arab and local organizations and maintains strong ties of cooperation and coordination with several NGOs locally or worldwide,

   

Earth Day

 

The AWO celebrated the Earth  day in 2003 by producing multi-media stories on water scarcity in Jordan. One of these stories is the personal perspective Rania, a teenager from Wadi Abdoun.

 

 SGP Forum  

The SGP Forum is an electronic network for Jordanian NGOs recipient of GEF Small Grant Programme (GEF/SGP) funding. The forum is established to serve GEF/SGP national communication strategy and bridge the gap among NGOs concerned with environment activities at the community level.
